If I knew then what I know now

If I knew then what I know now

If I knew then what I know now

Dear J,

I was so angry at you for leaving, I was so mad that you did what you did the way you did. But I can see now how hard it must have been to follow your heart in the circumstances you found yourself in. Upon reflection of the many times you mentioned and spoke to your dear friend, I can see you were in love even then. It is true you can not help who you fall or do not fall in love with. I understand now the pressures and expectations upon you were great.

My pain at seeing my best and dearest friend need their life to merge with someone other than me was very hard to withstand. I lashed out and at the time felt some relief in my angry grief. I am very proud of you for leaving when you did, many many people sit it out majority of their lives with someone other than who they love. I am glad that won’t be us. With pain in my chest and a lump in my throat, I do dearly wish you as much happiness and joy as you can possibly experience. And I hope when you think of me you wish the same for me. Goodbye to my past dear friend and lover, I set you free from my heart to be all that you are meant to be in whatever life has for you. Be blessed and know that you are brave and daring. Follow your heart.

J
