My last letter

My last letter

My last letter

Dear Lesley,

It has been a while since the last time I wrote you a letter. At least a meaningful one. But for now, please consider reading this one. A letter to the woman who will always have a place in me.

Do you remember the notebook I’ve told you about? A notebook filled with all our meaningful conversations written and remembered. I was cleaning up my place a couple of days ago, and I found it again. The thing is, we were so different back then: young, perhaps a little immature, kind of stupid both in good and bad ways. Everything has changed; however, I will always remember you as someone who loved me genuinely. And I will always be grateful for that.

I know that we are both happy now in our respective situations in life. When I found out that you have found someone new to share your love with, I genuinely felt happy, because you deserve it and you have been waiting for that person for the longest, even if you have always denied it.

As for me, while I am currently writing this letter, there is a small box inside my pocket. Lesley, I’ll ask her to marry me tonight. I am finally building the life I always wanted with someone worth spending the rest of my days with. But before I open that new chapter, I want to close the one I have with you with all my love.

For the longest, I have left a small space and left my door open for you. Call me stupid but a part of me really hoped it would be you. But that was then, and this is now. Thank you so much for everything, Les. I wish you all the best in life, and may the next chapters in your life be filled with joyful and sweet moments with the ones you love.

Maybe in the next life, but for now, goodbye.
