Soon after we had broken up, or rather soon after I found out you were cheating on me and broke my heart, you told me not to regret the 5 years we spent together.

I couldn’t understand how you could tell me not to regret it. Five years is a long time to spend in a relationship that ends up going nowhere! I thought, what a waste! Now, nine months later I finally get it!

Those 5 years were everything but a waste! After spending the day with your family and friends at your sister’s Bachelorette yesterday, it all became so clear. Yes, the relationship and bond I formed over those five years was a waste but the bond and relationships in formed with those closes to you I will cherish forever! Through you, I have met so many amazing people who have gone out of there way to remain friends with me even though we are no longer together. The fact that your mother and I can still sit and have a heart to heart even though her son broke my heart, is a beautiful thing.
