Dear Stranger

I don’t know if you’ll ever see this, but I want you to know that I forgive you.

I forgive you for all the hurtful words you’ve said to me. I forgive you for all the lies you’ve told me. I forgive you for your unforgettable behavior. I forgive you for all the double standards you placed upon me and above all else I forgive you for using me the way you did. Because what I’ve come to realise is that no matter how much you hurt me, took advantage of me and left me feeling empty; it was all for the best. You were my first love, and despite all the pain and suffering you put me through you did give me happiness and more importantly you gave me so much experience. Experience that I will use to improve myself, and for that I’m grateful.

Since our time apart I’ve realised that your callous behavior and actions had nothing to do with me, and everything to do with you. Because once upon a time, someone you loved hurt you and left you broken. And i can’t blame you for that. No matter how much effort and time I put into trying to make you whole again, the thing you really needed was time and space to yourself.

One thing that I have learnt from our time apart is compassion.Throughout life we will hurt and get hurt by people along the way. But everyone makes mistakes and therefore everyone deserves a second chance. You included. That is why I want you to know that I don’t hate you anymore, but instead I wish the best for you. I hope that you find happiness. I hope you find another to love. And most of all I hope you live an amazing and fulfilling life.
