Dear -,
I wanted to write you a letter to say that I wish you all the best. I know I made the breakup difficult for you (though kind of funny in its own way), but I wanted to tell you that I’m really thankful that I met you.
I’m really grateful to you for all you’ve taught me the last eight months. I’m glad you were a part of my life, even if it was only a short time, and I want to say thank you. For teaching me to be comfortable with touching and kissing. For being patient enough to teach me to be intimate. For making me comfortable with my sexuality. For always being a considerate boyfriend. For breaking up with me when you knew it was the right thing to do. Thank you for always doing as you should do.
You’re a great person, and you deserve someone who is kind and good and and who will give you that emotional compatibility and intimacy that makes a relationship worthwhile. She would be lucky to have you. You’re one of the best people I know.
And until then, go f-cking. You’re good at it, and I wish you both immediate gratification as well as the deeper love that will last you for the rest of your life. I wish you all the good things in life.
Emily
