Thank you for every single thing you did for me.

You hurt me mentally and physically. And I want to say thank you for that. Thank you for showing me what love isn’t supposed to be. You loved me in a way I don’t ever want anyone else to love me. You controlled me. I was scared to leave. Thank you for teaching me to never be scared. Thank you for threatening to hurt me and my family. It showed me that they are what is important in my life. They are the people I need by my side when times get tough, not you. Thank you for leaving me broken and bruised. You left marks on me that will never go away. I have a permanent reminder of how a man should never treat a women.

Thank you for teaching me all of these things. Because of you I will find someone who will never love me the way you did. Someone who will never control me or hurt me. Thank you for teaching me what a real man is. You weren’t a real man, you were a coward. You don’t know how to love someone, you know how to control someone. 

With all my heart, thank you. If it wasn’t for you I wouldn’t be the woman I am today.
